Allopathic medicine
Identified as conventional medicine, allopathic is a medical advance which tries to find a cure producing a condition in the body different than, or contrary to, the situation that exists within the diseased state.
Allopathic institutions in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada are recognized by the American Association of Medical Colleges, (AAMC). The education methodology varies among schools.
The "conventional" model consists of two years of basic science followed by clinical rotations. The "systems-based" program is ordered around physiologic systems, such as the lung or kidney. The "case-based" model is teaching in the course of clinical vignettes. There are also schools teaching hybrids of these approaches.
